Green Coris Wrasse (Halichoeres Chloropterus)
Also Known As: Green Wrasse, Pastel Green Wrasse
Compatibility, Behavior, and Environment
Like the Yellow Coris Wrasse, the Green Coris Wrasse is an active, inquisitive swimmer that spends its day cruising rockwork and sand in search of small invertebrates. This species is peaceful and may be kept singly or in small groups. Yellow Coris Wrasses are considered reef safe with caution: while they rarely bother coral, they may consume pest invertebrates like flatworms, fireworms, and pyramidellid snails. Smaller shrimp may be fair game for large Yellow Coris Wrasses. These wrasses are excellent for mixed-reef or community aquariums with other peaceful fish.
Live Arrival Guarantee: Because a deep sand bed is so critical to this species' wellbeing and survival, we're only able to guarantee Coris Wrasses for live arrival. Please make sure your setup is ready before ordering.
Aquarium Requirements
The Green Coris Wrasse does best in a mature aquarium with plenty of live rock for exploration, and a soft sandy substrate for burying at night or when startled. A minimum of a 75-gallon tank is often suggested for an adult, with open swimming space around islands of rock and stable structures that will not topple as the fish digs and forages. A tight-fitting lid or mesh top is strongly recommended, since this species can jump during sudden dashes or disputes.
