Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus Solorensis)
Also Known As: Tricolor Fairy Wrasse
Compatibility and Behavior The Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse is one of those fish that turns heads the moment it enters a tank — a captivating mix of blue, red, gold, and green that's hard to fully appreciate until you see it moving through the water column. It's worth noting that color variation between individuals can be pretty significant with this species, but every specimen we ship is genuinely colorful in its own right. Beyond the looks, this is a peaceful, adaptable wrasse that tends to coexist well with a wide range of tankmates across reef and fish-only setups alike. Given enough swimming room and a sensible stocking order, many hobbyists find the Solon Fairy Wrasse settles in as a natural centerpiece — active, confident, and prone to putting on brief flashing displays during courtship or mild social interactions with other fish.
Aquarium Requirements A minimum of 60 gallons works for this species, though more open water is always appreciated — the Solon Fairy Wrasse spends most of its time cruising the mid-water column and likes room to move. Unlike Halichoeres wrasses, it doesn't rely on burying in sand, but it does appreciate a well-structured aquascape with overhangs, ledges, and shaded recesses where it can retreat and wedge in at night. A tight-fitting lid or mesh cover is important: fairy wrasses as a group tend to be enthusiastic jumpers, especially when startled or during social chases, and the Solon is no exception. Stable water quality and regular feedings of meaty foods will keep this fish active and its colors at their best.
