Compatibility and Behavior
Six electric blue lines running snout to tail over a coral-to-orange-pink body, a neon blue eye ring, and a shimmering greenish tail: at barely 1.75 inches the Six Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) packs a lot of color into a small package, and it never seems to hold still long enough for you to fully take it in. That restless energy is the whole personality. This is a fish that spends its entire day weaving through the rockwork, poking into every crevice, and it's genuinely useful while it's at it, picking off flatworms, tiny pest snails, and pods. The catch is the temperament, best summed up as reef safe with attitude. It leaves corals and most inverts alone, but in small spaces it can get territorial toward other wrasses and similarly shaped fish, and an established individual may start throwing its weight around with timid or slow tankmates. For that reason (and particularly in smaller systems), many hobbyists add the Six Line later in the stocking order, once everyone else has staked out their turf.

Aquarium Requirements
A 40 to 55 gallon tank with a long footprint and plenty of rockwork suits this wrasse well, and the rockwork is the important part: dense structure with arches, caves, and channels gives it room to dart, hunt, and tuck in to sleep, which is really how this fish wants to live. The one thing to treat as non-negotiable is a tight-fitting lid or mesh top, since Six Lines are notorious jumpers that will slip through surprisingly small gaps. Beyond that the care is undemanding, just stable water, decent flow, and a varied diet of mysis, enriched brine, finely chopped seafood, and quality marine pellets to keep it well fed, colored up, and a little less inclined to pick fights.
