Wardley Wrasse Male EXPERT (Halichoeres Melanurus)
Also Known As: Male Melanurus Wrasse, Male Hoeven's Wrasse
Compatibility and Behavior If you've seen a fully mature male Wardley Wrasse in person, you already know why this listing exists. Adult males display significantly brighter coloration than juveniles or females, and this product guarantees exactly that — a large, confirmed adult male at his full expressive best. Personality-wise, Wardleys are peaceful and generally get along with a broad range of tankmates, from other peaceful community fish to mildly semi-aggressive species. As with any live animal, individual temperament can vary, but this is one of the more easygoing members of the Halichoeres genus. Like their medium-size counterparts, adult males are active foragers that many hobbyists find genuinely useful for keeping flatworm and bristleworm populations in check.
Aquarium Requirements At 3–4" and fully grown, this fish appreciates a bit more space than a juvenile would — a minimum of 80 gallons gives him room to cruise his territory comfortably. The aquascape should offer open swimming lanes above and through the rockwork, along with crevices and ledges to duck into throughout the day. The sandbed is non-negotiable: Wardley Wrasses bury themselves to sleep and when stressed, and any individual introduced to a tank without adequate sand depth won't be eligible for our guarantee. A secure lid or mesh cover is equally important — this species can jump, and a large male with a little extra attitude behind him is no exception. Otherwise, care is refreshingly uncomplicated for a fish this rewarding to keep.
