Heniochus Blk&White (Heniochus Acuminatus)
Key Features:
Also Known As (AKA): Longfin Bannerfish
Visual Traits: The Black and White Heniochus Butterflyfish features a dramatic contrast of deep black and pristine white bands that extend through its body and into its elongated white dorsal fin. This fin, resembling a banner in the current, not only captivates the eye but also enhances the graceful movements of the fish. It makes for one of the most unique-looking saltwater fish out there.
Compatibility, Behavior, and Environment: This species is mostly peaceful and can coexist with a variety of peaceful tankmates, including other Heniochus Butterflies (if introduced simultaneously, they do great together). Territorial behavior has been observed with this species, but it is not guaranteed to occur. The Heniochus Butterfly is not considered reef-safe, as it may nip at some corals and anemones. We often get the Heniochus Butterfly in a nice variety of sizes, from Tiny to Large, allowing plenty of opportunities to get this fish in a compatible size for most tanks small to large.
Aquarium Requirements:
The minimum tank size depends on the size of the butterfly. Tiny to Small specimens will do fine from 50 gallons and up, Smd-Md specimens will likely need at least 75-100 gallons or more. 125 gallons + is ideal to allow for them to grow. The tank should have ample rockwork for grazing and hiding, and similarly-sized fish.

Approximate Size: T (Tiny) 1”, Sm 1.5-2”, Smd 1.5-2.5”, Md 2.5-3.5”, Lg 3.5-4” in LENGTH, note that Heniochus Butterflies are more tall than long.
Diet: Omnivore, prefers a varied diet including mysis shrimp, live baby brine shrimp, algae, and may nip at coral polyps
