Linespot Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus Lineopunctatus)
Also Known As: Dot Dash Flasher Wrasse, Spot Lined Flasher Wrasse
Compatibility and Behavior
The Linespot Flasher Wrasse is a small, brilliantly patterned flasher wrasse known for its energetic swimming and impressive display behavior during courtship and social interactions. Males may “flash” by intensifying their colors, raising their fins, and darting around the tank, especially in the presence of females or at dusk, which makes them a standout centerpiece in peaceful reef aquariums. This striking species is peaceful and reef-safe; you can’t miss the striking filaments protruding off of its dorsal fin. Note that this species may show a distinct fade in color when stressed.
The Linespot Flasher Wrasse typically spends the day actively cruising open water and dipping into rockwork for security, so ensuring a peaceful community environment helps prevent stress and allows natural activity levels.
Aquarium Requirements
The Linespot Flasher Wrasse is best kept in an aquarium of around 40–50 gallons or larger, especially if housing multiple Fairy wrasses or a harem. Provide ample open swimming space combined with branching or porous rock structures that offer quick hideouts and sleeping retreats. A mature reef environment with stable conditions, moderate flow, and strong filtration is ideal for this active planktivore, which benefits from frequent feedings throughout the day. A secure cover is essential to prevent jumping, and subdued to moderate lighting often helps the fish feel more comfortable and encourages natural display behavior. Offer a varied diet of finely chopped meaty foods, enriched brine and mysis shrimp, and high-quality marine pellets or flakes designed for small carnivores to maintain health and vibrant coloration.
