Lubbock Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus Lubbocki)
Also Known As: Multicolored Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse
Compatibility and Behavior Part of what makes the Lubbock Fairy Wrasse so interesting is that no two look quite the same. Depending on collection location, sex, and maturity, individuals can show very different combinations of purples, oranges, yellows, and reds — with males tending toward more intense, contrasting patterns as they develop. We can't guarantee a specific color variation, but every specimen we ship is genuinely colorful. In the aquarium, Lubbocks are peaceful, reef-safe, and generally easy to integrate into a community of similarly tempered fish — clownfish, gobies, chromis, firefish, anthias, and other non-aggressive species all tend to make good neighbors. They're active and visible throughout the day, regularly weaving through rockwork and open water in a way that keeps the tank feeling alive.
Aquarium Requirements Because this is a smaller, more mild-mannered wrasse, tank selection matters more than it might with a bolder species. A 40-gallon minimum works well, but the real key is keeping it with appropriately peaceful tankmates — in larger tanks with more boisterous fish, Lubbocks can struggle to compete and may become reclusive. A well-aquascaped system with branching rockwork, overhangs, and shaded crevices gives this species the shelter it needs, both for daytime retreats and nighttime sleeping. Unlike Halichoeres wrasses, Lubbocks don't typically bury in sand — they wedge into rock instead, so a complex aquascape matters more than sandbed depth here. A tight-fitting lid is still a must, as with any fairy wrasse.
