Debelius Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus Adornatus)
Also Known As: Red-Fin Fairy Wrasse, Koi Fairy Wrasse
Compatibility and Behavior
The Debelius Wrasse is a striking, graceful fairy wrasse known for its elegant pink and red tones and distinct Koi-like splotches by the dorsal fin that add refined color and motion to peaceful reef aquariums. It is generally considered reef safe with corals and most ornamental invertebrates, and it tends to mix well with other peaceful fish of similar size. When provided ample swimming room and hiding places, this wrasse usually spends its day gliding through the midwater column, flashing color during social interactions and at feeding time.
Aquarium Requirements
The Debelius Wrasse thrives in a covered, well-oxygenated reef aquarium with open swimming space and plenty of live rock for retreats and nighttime shelter. A tight-fitting lid or mesh screen is essential, as fairy wrasses can jump when startled or during courtship chases. Moderate flow that creates gentle currents, combined with strong filtration and a mature biological system, helps support its active lifestyle and vibrant coloration. This species appreciates multiple small feedings of suspended meaty foods throughout the day, allowing it to feed naturally in the water column above a stable, well-established reef structure.
